Web Development in Nepal at a glance

Most websites we get asked to fix in Kathmandu have the same story. Someone built them on a cheap theme, the homepage takes eight seconds to load on mobile data, and the contact form quietly stopped sending emails a year ago. Nobody noticed because nobody was measuring.

We build the other way round. We start with what the site has to do for your business (calls, WhatsApp messages, bookings, quote requests) and work backwards to the pages, the copy and the code. Then we make sure Google can read every page, and that you can see in Analytics exactly where enquiries come from.

Problems we fix

If any of these sound familiar, this service is for you.
  • Slow on mobile data

Heavy sliders and uncompressed photos make pages crawl on 4G. Visitors leave before the page appears, and Google notices.

  • Looks fine, sells nothing

There's no clear next step: no call button, no WhatsApp link, no reason to enquire today. Traffic arrives and leaves without a trace.

  • Invisible to Google

Missing titles, duplicate pages and no sitemap mean the site never ranks, however good the design is.

How much does a website cost in Nepal in 2026?

Expect NPR 25,000–40,000 for a simple template site, NPR 60,000–80,000 for a custom-designed business site that's set up for Google, and NPR 1,50,000 or more for portals with logins, bookings or payments. Domain and hosting add roughly NPR 3,000–15,000 a year.

The wide range on most price guides comes from one thing: how much is custom. A theme with your logo dropped in is quick. A site planned around what your customers search for, with its own design, written copy, tracking and speed tuning, takes four to six weeks of real work from three or four people. That's where the money goes.

When you compare quotes, ask each company the same three questions: who writes the content, is SEO setup included or extra, and what does it cost per year after launch? Cheap quotes often leave out all three, and the website ends up costing more by the end of year two.

  • Domain: .com around NPR 1,500–2,000 a year; .com.np free for registered Nepali businesses
  • Hosting: NPR 3,000–12,000 a year for most business sites
  • Maintenance: optional, from about NPR 3,000 a month
  • Content writing and photography: often quoted separately, so check

Should you choose a custom website or a template?

A template is fine if you need a basic online presence quickly and don't compete hard on Google. A custom build is worth it when the website is supposed to bring enquiries, because you control speed, structure and SEO markup, the three things templates usually get wrong.

Most templates are built to look good in a demo. They load sliders, animation libraries and fonts you never use, which is why so many Nepali business sites take six to eight seconds to open on a phone. Google measures that, and so do your visitors.

Our builds start from a blank page in React or Next.js. We add only what the site needs, compress every image, and generate clean HTML that Google and AI tools can read without running JavaScript. The result is usually a site that scores 90+ on mobile PageSpeed and is cheaper to keep running.

What should a website for a Nepali business include?

At minimum: a clear headline saying what you do and where, one page per main service, real contact details with a map, a WhatsApp or Viber button, prices or price ranges where possible, and Google Analytics with Search Console so you can see what works.

Nepali customers are practical. They want to know if you're open, where you are, what it costs, and how to reach you on the app they already use. A website that answers those four questions on the first screen beats one with a beautiful video background.

Trust signals matter more here than in many markets because online scams are common. Show your company registration, PAN or VAT number, real photos of your office and team, and reviews from Google. Those details convert visitors who are on the fence.

How do you make a website rank on Google from day one?

Plan pages around real searches before design starts, give every page a unique title and description, render content as HTML that Google can read without JavaScript, add schema markup, submit a sitemap, and make the site fast on mobile. Then keep publishing useful pages.

Most sites are built first and 'SEO'd' later, which means moving pages, rewriting copy and fixing code after launch. We reverse that. The keyword map comes first, the sitemap follows it, and the design gives each page room for the content it needs to rank.

Launch day is the start, not the finish. New sites usually take a few weeks to be fully indexed and a few months to build authority. We submit the site to Search Console, watch indexing daily for the first fortnight and fix anything Google struggles with.

  • Keyword map before sitemap
  • Unique title and meta per page
  • Prerendered HTML, not an empty JavaScript shell
  • Organization, LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ schema
  • Sitemap and Search Console on launch day

How do you choose a web development company in Nepal?

Look at sites they've built that are live today and test them on your phone. Ask for a fixed written quote, who owns the code and accounts, what happens after launch, and whether SEO setup is included. Avoid anyone who can't show real work or won't put the scope in writing.

Price alone is a poor guide. A NPR 20,000 site that needs rebuilding a year later costs more than a NPR 70,000 site that works for five years. The best indicator is how the company's past sites perform now: are they fast, do they rank, are the clients still with them?

  • Live portfolio you can test on your phone
  • Fixed scope and price in writing
  • Code, domain and hosting in your name
  • SEO and analytics setup included
  • Clear support terms after launch

What's the difference between web design and web development?

Web design is how the site looks and how people move through it: layout, colours, type and page flow, usually done in Figma. Web development is turning that design into a working site: code, CMS, forms, payments, speed and hosting. You need both, and they work best when one team does them together.

In Nepal the two words are often used for the same job, which causes confusion in quotes. A 'website design' price from a freelancer might only cover a theme with your logo. A 'web development' quote from an agency usually includes design, build, content setup, SEO basics and launch. Ask what each quote includes before comparing numbers.

Do you build websites for businesses outside Kathmandu?

Yes. We work with businesses across Nepal, from Pokhara and Chitwan to Butwal, Biratnagar and Dharan, and with clients in Dubai. Kick-off, design reviews and training happen over video call and WhatsApp, so location doesn't change the timeline or the price.

For businesses that want to rank in their own city, we build location pages and set up the Google Business Profile for that area, so a clinic in Pokhara shows up for Pokhara searches, not Kathmandu ones.

What happens after the website goes live?

We submit it to Google Search Console, watch indexing and speed for two weeks, fix anything that comes up, and train your team to edit content. After that, you can take a maintenance plan or manage it yourself.

Most problems show up in the first fortnight: a form that emails the wrong address, an image that's too heavy, a page Google can't index. Catching them early is why the launch period matters as much as the build.

Can you redesign my existing website without losing Google rankings?

Yes. We map every old URL, keep or redirect pages that already rank with 301 redirects, preserve titles and content that work, and monitor Search Console daily after launch.

Redesigns lose rankings when URLs change without redirects or when ranking content is cut for a cleaner look. We plan the SEO side of a redesign before design starts, not after launch.

How do you choose a website development company in Nepal?

Look at live websites the company built, test them on your phone, and ask who will design and build yours. A good web design company in Nepal gives you a written scope and price, builds the site in your name, and sets up basic SEO before launch, not 'later'.

Search 'website design company in Nepal' and you'll find hundreds of options, from one-person studios to large firms. Price differences usually come from what's included: custom design or a template, who writes the content, speed and SEO work, and support after launch. Compare those line by line rather than comparing the headline price.

  • Three live sites similar to yours, checked on a phone over mobile data
  • Domain, hosting and admin logins registered in your business's name
  • Mobile-first design and pages that load in under 3 seconds
  • Titles, descriptions and Search Console set up at launch
  • A clear answer on yearly costs: hosting, domain and maintenance

Website developer in Nepal: freelancer or company?

A freelance website developer in Nepal is usually cheaper and fine for a simple site. A website development company costs more but gives you design, development, SEO, hosting help and support from a team that will still be there next year. Choose by how much the website matters to your sales.

The most common problem we're asked to fix is a site built by someone who has since moved on, with no access to the hosting, theme licence or code. Whoever you hire, make sure the domain, hosting and admin logins are in your name from day one.

  • Freelancer: lower cost, good for 3–5 page sites, risk if they become unavailable
  • Small studio: design and development together, limited marketing
  • Website development company: design, build, SEO and support under one contract

By the numbers

How load time raises the chance a mobile visitor leaves

Compared with a page that loads in 1 second. On Nepali 4G, where speeds swing a lot between Ncell and NTC, every second counts even more.

Web Development: frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost in Nepal?

A simple 5–6 page site starts around NPR 35,000. A business site with a blog, custom design and SEO setup is usually NPR 65,000–75,000. Portals and sites with logins or payments start from NPR 1,50,000.

How long does it take to build a website?

Three to six weeks for most business sites. The biggest delay is usually content, so we send a simple content checklist on day one.

Do you provide hosting and a domain?

We help you buy the domain in your own name (.com or a free .com.np) and set up hosting. You own everything; we never hold domains hostage.

Will my website show on Google?

Every site we build is indexable, has a sitemap and is submitted to Search Console. Ranking for competitive keywords takes ongoing SEO, which we offer separately.

Can I edit the website myself?

Yes. We set up a CMS where you can edit text, images and blog posts, and record a short training video for your team.

Do you redesign existing websites?

Yes. We keep your URLs or set up 301 redirects so you don't lose the rankings you already have.
