Nepal has about 32.4 million mobile connections, more than its population, and almost every adult reads SMS, including people on basic phones without mobile data. That's why schools, hospitals, cooperatives and online stores still rely on SMS for anything that must be seen: fee reminders, appointment alerts, OTPs and delivery updates.
Social media and WhatsApp are great for conversations, but they depend on data, apps and algorithms. SMS API for developers
The Sigma SMS API lets your website, mobile app, billing software or CRM send messages to Nepali numbers automatically: OTPs at login, order and payment alerts, reminders before a due date. It's a simple HTTP request, so it works from PHP, Node.js, Python, Laravel, WordPress or almost anything else.
You get an API key, the endpoint and full parameter list when your account is set up. We can also connect it to your system for you as part of our software development service.

Bulk SMS good practice
- Send promotions only to people who gave you their number and expect to hear from you.
- Start the message with what matters (the offer, due date or OTP) and end with your business name.
- Keep English under 160 characters and Nepali under 70 to pay for one SMS, not two.
- Avoid sending between 9pm and 7am, except for OTPs and urgent alerts.
- Clean your list: remove wrong numbers and people who ask to stop.
- Track results with a short link or a code like 'show this SMS for 10% off'.

How much does Sigma SMS cost?
NPR 1 per SMS, excluding 13% VAT. A Nepali (Unicode) message longer than 70 characters, or an English message longer than 160, counts as more than one SMS.
Which networks does Sigma SMS deliver to?
Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Ncell numbers. Smart Telecom numbers aren't supported at the moment.
Can I use my own sender ID?
Yes. You can send on a shared sender ID straight away, or request a dedicated sender ID with your business name. Dedicated sender IDs need approval before use.
Can I personalise bulk SMS with each customer's name?
Yes. Upload an Excel or CSV file and use its column headings as variables, such as {first_name} or {due_amount}. The preview shows exactly how each message will look.
Is there an SMS API?
Yes. You get an API key and documentation to send single or bulk messages, alerts and OTPs from your website, app or software over HTTP.
Can I send SMS in Nepali?
Yes. Nepali Unicode text is supported. Unicode messages hold 70 characters per SMS, or 67 per part when a message is split into several parts.
Do I get delivery reports?
Yes. The web dashboard shows each campaign and whether messages were delivered.
Can I send OTPs and alerts automatically?
Yes. Trigger them through the API from your system: OTPs at login or checkout, alerts when a payment is due or an order ships.
Is bulk SMS legal in Nepal?
Yes, for messages to people who expect to hear from you, such as your customers, members or students. Send promotions only to people who agreed to receive them, include your business name and avoid late-night sending.
