WordPress Development in Nepal at a glance
WordPress runs a huge share of the web, and for good reason. Your team can write a blog post or change a price without touching code. The trouble is that a lot of WordPress sites in Nepal are built with a heavy theme and 30 plugins. They look fine on launch day, then slow down, break on updates and eventually get hacked.
Our WordPress work is deliberately lean. We build custom block themes, use as few plugins as possible, and set up updates, backups and a firewall before launch. You keep the easy editing that makes WordPress popular, without the usual mess.
Problems we fix
Page-builder bloat
Elementor-style builders add megabytes of code to every page. Mobile speed scores in the 20s are common.
Hacked sites
Old plugins and nulled themes are the most common way Nepali WordPress sites get infected with spam.
Afraid to update
Updates break the layout, so nobody updates, which makes security worse.

Is WordPress still a good choice for business websites?
Yes, for sites that are mostly pages, blog posts and simple forms, and where your team wants to edit content often. WordPress runs over 40% of the web, so help and plugins are easy to find. It's a poorer fit for complex apps or sites that need top-tier speed without careful tuning.
WordPress's reputation for being slow and hackable mostly comes from how it's set up, not from WordPress itself. Thirty plugins, a heavy page builder and no updates for two years will make any site slow and unsafe.
We build WordPress sites with a lightweight block theme, a short list of trusted plugins, automatic backups and a firewall. That keeps them fast and secure while still giving your team the familiar editor.
Why do WordPress sites in Nepal get hacked, and how do you prevent it?
Almost always through outdated plugins or themes, nulled (pirated) premium plugins, and weak admin passwords. Prevention is simple but has to be ongoing: licensed plugins only, regular updates, two-factor login, a firewall, and daily off-site backups.
Nulled plugins are surprisingly common in Nepal because premium licences are priced in dollars. They often contain hidden code that injects spam links or redirects visitors. If your site suddenly shows Japanese or casino keywords in Google, that's usually the cause.
When we take over a hacked site, we clean the files and database, replace every pirated plugin with a licensed or free alternative, reset all credentials, and submit the site to Google for review so the warning disappears.
- Use only licensed or free plugins from wordpress.org
- Update core, themes and plugins every month
- Enable two-factor login for every admin
- Keep daily backups stored off the server
Can WooCommerce work with eSewa, Khalti and cash on delivery?
Yes. eSewa, Khalti and Fonepay all have WooCommerce integrations, and cash on delivery is built in. You need an approved merchant account with each payment provider, which takes a few days to a few weeks depending on your documents.
We set up the payment plugins, test real transactions in sandbox mode, and configure delivery zones for inside and outside the Kathmandu Valley so shipping costs show before checkout. That one change alone reduces abandoned orders noticeably.
How much does a WordPress website cost in Nepal?
A WordPress site on a premium theme with up to 6 pages costs about NPR 25,000. A custom-designed WordPress theme with up to 15 pages costs around NPR 60,000, and a WooCommerce store starts from NPR 1,00,000. Premium plugin licences and hosting are extra and paid yearly.
Be careful with very cheap WordPress quotes. They often use pirated ('nulled') themes and plugins, which can carry hidden malware and can't be updated safely. Ask for licensed or free plugins only, and make sure the admin account is in your name.
What's the difference between a WordPress website and a normal website?
A 'normal' website is usually custom-coded or static HTML, edited by a developer. A WordPress website runs on a content management system, so you can edit pages, posts and media yourself from a dashboard. WordPress is faster to build and easier to edit; custom code is leaner, faster and more flexible.
Neither is better in general. If your team publishes often and wants a familiar editor, WordPress is a good fit. If speed, security and a unique experience matter most, or the site behaves more like an app, custom code is usually the better long-term choice.
Which WordPress plugins does a business site actually need?
Usually fewer than ten: an SEO plugin, a security and firewall plugin, a backup plugin, a caching or performance plugin, a forms plugin, and anything your specific features need. Every extra plugin adds risk and weight.
We audit plugins on every WordPress site we take over. It's common to remove half of them, which makes the site faster and safer with no loss of features.
Can you speed up my slow WordPress site?
Usually yes. The common fixes are compressing and resizing images, replacing a heavy page builder or theme, removing unused plugins, adding caching and a CDN, and moving to better hosting.
We measure before and after with PageSpeed Insights and real-user data, so you can see the difference rather than take our word for it.
