Ask five SEO companies in Nepal for a price and you'll get five very different numbers. Some offer 'SEO packages' for NPR 5,000 a month; others won't start under NPR 1,00,000. Both can be honest. The difference is what's actually being done each month, and how hard it is to rank in your market.
The short answer
Most small and mid-sized Nepali businesses pay NPR 20,000–80,000 a month for SEO that actually moves rankings. Local SEO for one location usually sits at the lower end; national or ecommerce SEO with regular content and link building sits at the higher end. One-off SEO audits typically cost NPR 15,000–60,000.
| Monthly budget | What it usually covers | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Under NPR 10,000 | Basic reports, a few directory listings, little real work | Rarely enough to change rankings |
| NPR 20,000 – 35,000 | Local SEO, Google Business Profile, on-page fixes, 2 articles | One location, local customers |
| NPR 40,000 – 80,000 | Technical SEO, 4+ articles, link building, schema, reporting | National keywords, growing brands |
| NPR 80,000+ | Full content programme, digital PR, AI-search visibility, CRO | Ecommerce, competitive niches, travel |
For reference, our own SEO plans are NPR 20,000 (local), NPR 40,000 (growth) and from NPR 80,000 (competitive) a month, excluding VAT. The full breakdown is on our pricing page.
What makes SEO more or less expensive?
- Competition: 'study abroad consultancy Kathmandu' is far harder than 'dentist in Dhangadhi'
- Your starting point: a slow site with technical problems needs fixing before anything else works
- Content: articles and page rewrites are the biggest ongoing cost, and the biggest lever
- Links: real links from news sites and partners take time and outreach
- Market: targeting the US or Australia costs far more than targeting Nepal
- Reporting: dashboards and strategy calls take senior time
Why cheap SEO packages usually don't work
A NPR 5,000 package can't pay for someone to write good content, fix technical issues and earn links every month. What it usually buys is automated reports, a handful of low-quality backlinks and 'keyword rankings' for terms nobody searches. At best that does nothing. At worst, spammy links can hurt your site.
- Guaranteed first-page rankings (nobody can guarantee Google)
- '1,000 backlinks a month' or similar numbers
- No access to your own Google Search Console or Analytics
- Reports that show rankings but never enquiries or sales
- A long lock-in contract before any results
Freelance SEO expert or SEO company: price difference
A freelance SEO expert in Nepal often charges NPR 10,000–40,000 a month, an agency NPR 20,000–1,00,000+. The freelancer is cheaper because they usually advise rather than implement: you still need a developer for fixes and a writer for content. Count those costs before comparing quotes.
Monthly SEO or a one-time project?
If your site has never been optimised, a one-time setup (audit, technical fixes, page rewrites, Google Business Profile) often brings the biggest jump. Monthly SEO is what keeps you climbing: new content, links and fixes as Google and competitors change. Many businesses do a one-off project, then a smaller monthly plan.
How long before SEO pays off?
Local SEO often shows more calls within 1–3 months. National keywords usually take 4–8 months, and very competitive ones longer. Budget for at least six months before judging, and make sure your agency tracks enquiries, not just rankings.
