Google Ads has no fixed price. You set a budget, and Google charges you each time someone clicks your ad. What you pay per click depends on how many other businesses want the same search and how good your ad and landing page are. That's why one clinic pays very little for 'dentist in Bhaktapur' while a study-abroad consultancy pays a lot for 'study in Australia from Nepal'.
The short answer
Most Nepali service businesses we work with start with NPR 20,000–60,000 a month in ad spend, paid to Google in US dollars. That's enough to test a focused set of keywords for a month. If someone manages the account for you, their fee is separate; ours starts at NPR 15,000 a month.
| Monthly ad spend | Realistic for |
|---|---|
| Under NPR 15,000 | A single local service with a handful of exact keywords |
| NPR 20,000 – 60,000 | Most clinics, consultancies, schools and service businesses |
| NPR 60,000 – 2,00,000 | Ecommerce, education with many courses, several cities |
| NPR 2,00,000+ | National brands, travel companies targeting abroad |
What decides your cost per click?
- Competition: how many advertisers bid on the same search
- Quality Score: how relevant your ad and landing page are; better pages pay less per click
- Location: targeting abroad (US, UK, Australia) costs far more than targeting Nepal
- Match type: broad keywords waste money on irrelevant searches
- Time and device: you can lower bids at night or on desktop if they don't convert
Is USD 10 a day enough?
For a local business targeting Nepal with a tight keyword list, roughly USD 10 a day (around NPR 40,000 a month) is a workable start. It's usually not enough for competitive national keywords, ecommerce with many products, or any campaign targeting foreign countries. The fix for a small budget is focus: fewer keywords, exact and phrase match, one city, and one strong landing page.
How do you pay Google Ads from Nepal?
Google bills in US dollars. Most businesses pay with an international dollar card from a Nepali bank. Personal e-commerce dollar cards usually have annual limits, so businesses with larger budgets often pay through an agency that bills them in rupees. Either way, keep the Google Ads account in your business's name and give your agency access, not ownership.
How to stop wasting money
- Track real conversions: calls, forms and WhatsApp clicks, not just clicks
- Add negative keywords from day one (jobs, free, course, salary, PDF)
- Send each ad group to a matching page, never just the homepage
- Check the search terms report every week
- Turn off locations and hours that never convert
Google Ads vs Facebook ads in Nepal
| Google Ads | Facebook / Instagram ads | |
|---|---|---|
| People are | Searching for what you sell | Scrolling, not searching |
| Best for | Services with clear demand (clinics, schools, repairs, B2B) | Products, offers, brand awareness |
| Cost per click | Usually higher | Usually lower |
| Lead quality | Usually higher intent | Varies; needs good follow-up |
