International SEO in Nepal at a glance
A trekking company in Thamel, a pashmina exporter in Lalitpur and a software firm in Baneshwor all have the same opportunity: their customers are searching from the UK, US, Australia, India or Germany. Ranking there needs more than translating your homepage.
Each market searches differently. Australians "book a trek", Germans search in German even for English-language tours, and Indian buyers compare in rupees. We research each market separately, build pages that speak to it, and set up the technical signals so Google shows the right version to the right person.
Problems we fix
Wrong version shown
Google shows your English page to German searchers, or the wrong currency.
Machine translation
Auto-translated pages that read badly and rank worse.
Local competitors
Agencies inside each market outrank you on local terms.

Who needs international SEO in Nepal?
Businesses whose customers are abroad: trekking and tour operators, hotels, handicraft and tea exporters, IT outsourcing companies, education consultancies and remittance or travel services. If your buyers search from the US, UK, Australia, Europe or India, you need to rank there, not just in Nepal.
Google shows different results in each country. Ranking first for 'Everest base camp trek' from Kathmandu tells you little about what a hiker in Sydney or Munich sees. We track rankings in each target market separately.
Should you translate your website for other countries?
Only for markets where people search in another language and you can serve them in it. For English-speaking markets, localise instead: prices in their currency, examples they relate to, spelling (UK vs US) and the questions they ask. Machine translation alone usually reads poorly and ranks poorly.
For German, French, Japanese or Chinese markets, we work with native-speaking writers and set up hreflang so Google shows each visitor the right version.
How do you choose which markets to target first?
Start where you already get enquiries or bookings, then check search demand and competition for your services in each country. Usually one or two markets done properly beat ten done thinly.
We look at your Search Console and Analytics data by country, booking history and competitor visibility, then build a market plan with keywords, page structure and link sources for each target country.
How do Nepali travel and trekking companies rank abroad?
With detailed itinerary pages that answer what foreign travellers search: day-by-day plans, prices in USD, permits, best season, difficulty and what's included. Add reviews from TripAdvisor and Google, fast mobile pages, and links from travel blogs and tourism associations in your target countries.
The competition is international booking sites with huge budgets. Specific, honest, first-hand detail is how a local operator wins: real photos from the trail, guide names, and clear answers to questions the big sites skip.
Should we use a .com or country domains?
For most Nepali exporters and travel companies, one .com with country or language folders is simplest and strongest. Separate country domains make sense only with a real local presence in each market.
How do you build links in foreign markets?
Through travel and industry blogs, partners and associations in those countries, guest content and digital PR. Links from sites your target customers read matter most.
URL structures for international sites
| Option | Example | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subfolder | site.com/de/ | Shares authority, easy | Weaker local signal |
| Subdomain | de.site.com | Separate hosting possible | Authority partly split |
| Country domain | site.de | Strongest local signal | Expensive, separate SEO |
Common mistakes we fix
