TikTok and Instagram creators now shape what a lot of Nepalis buy, especially under 30. Influencer marketing can work very well here because audiences are local and trust is personal. It can also burn money fast if you pick creators by follower count alone.
What creators in Nepal typically charge
There's no official rate card. These are rough ranges we see quoted for a single Reel or TikTok video in 2026. Fees vary a lot by niche, engagement and whether the creator is in demand that month.
| Creator size | Followers | Typical fee per video (NPR) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | 1k – 10k | 2,000 – 10,000 or product exchange | Local shops, cafés, city-level reach |
| Micro | 10k – 100k | 10,000 – 50,000 | Most small and mid-sized brands |
| Mid-tier | 100k – 500k | 50,000 – 1,50,000 | National launches |
| Macro / celebrity | 500k+ | 1,50,000 and up | Big brands, awareness campaigns |
Smaller is often better
A food creator in Pokhara with 20,000 engaged local followers will usually sell more momo for a Pokhara restaurant than a Kathmandu celebrity with a million followers spread across Nepal and abroad. Several micro-creators also give you more content to reuse in ads.
Checking a creator before you pay
- Ask for a screenshot of audience insights: country, city, age and gender
- Look at comments: real questions and conversations, or just emojis and 'nice'?
- Compare views on recent videos to follower count; sudden spikes in followers are a red flag
- Check whether past sponsored posts got real engagement
- See if their audience actually matches your customer, not just their content style
Write a short, clear brief
- One key message (not five)
- What must be shown: the product, the shop, the price or the offer
- Any claims they must not make (especially for health or finance products)
- Call to action: discount code, link in bio, or 'visit us at…'
- Deadlines, number of revisions and whether you can reuse the video in ads
Let creators speak in their own voice. Scripted videos that sound like ads perform like ads. Ask them to label paid content clearly; it's fair to their audience and keeps everyone on the right side of platform rules and Nepal's advertising law.
Measure it like any other channel
| What to track | How |
|---|---|
| Orders or bookings | A unique discount code per creator |
| Website visits | A UTM-tagged link in bio or stories |
| Messages | Ask new customers 'where did you hear about us?' |
| Content value | Reuse the best video as an ad and compare cost per result |
